CMから生まれた企画盤が28万枚の大ヒット作 - 25年ぶりのCD再リリースは紙ジャケで！テリー・デサリオはマイアミのクラブで歌っていたところを「The Bee Gees」のバリー・ギブに見出され、「Pleasure Train」でデビュー。79年高校の同級生であった「KC and the Sunsine Band」のKCこと、ハリー・ウェイン・ケーシーとデュエット曲「Yes, I'm Ready」を発表し、80年3月にビルボードチャート2位の大ヒットを記録。しかし、80年の「Caught」発売以降、所属レーベルである「Casablanca Records」のビジネストラブルに遭い、活動制限を余儀なくされる。
そして、84年「Overnight Success」（作詞作曲は、ジョーイ・カルボーン & リッチー・ズィトー）がSONYのカセットテープ・ビデオテープのコマーシャルソングとして制作、発売され、日本市場で28万枚の大ヒット（85年オリコンシングル年間47位）する。
ソニーのカセットテープであるソニー HF等や、ビデオテープであるベータマックス等のコマーシャルソングとして制作、発売され（「SONY Night Square」の各番組で必ず流れていた）、シングルは日本市場で28万枚の大ヒット（1985年オリコン総合シングル年間47位、オリコン洋楽シングルチャートで1984年11月26日付から11週連続1位）。このシングルはオランダでも発売された。（EPIC - EPCA 12.5031）

ところでこのテリーさん、この曲を日本で大ヒットさせた後、他者への楽曲提供を積極的に行う傍ら、なんとゴスペルに傾倒していったそうです。
1986年にはグラミーのゴスペル部門にもノミネートされたとか。
この曲からは想像もつかないかもしれませんが、『オーバーナイト・サクセス』以前は、宗教的な楽曲も歌っていたそうです。
