はい、ヘンテコ邦題でよく例にあがってるのがこの曲。
レイ・パーカー・Jrの “I・STILL・愛してる” です。
原題は“I Still Can't Get Over Loving You”。出だしの“アイ・スティル”が“愛してる”と語呂が同じことでそうした邦題がついたんでしょう(;^_^A。これを考えたレコード会社の担当の方、どんな気持ちで作ったんだろう？ ニヤニヤ笑いながら付けた気がするなあ…笑。
◆和訳にあたっては「get over」のニュアンスにちょっとこだわりました。
“Get over”は「乗り越える」「克服する」という意味ですよね。なので“I still can't get over loving you」“は“きみを愛している気持ちをどうしても乗り越えられない」というニュアンスになると思います。
もう愛は終わってしまったけど…まだそこに留まってる…。
