この曲は知りませんでした！
先日、参加した「洋楽パラダイス」（略して洋パラ）と題した洋楽ファンのイベントで参加者の“K”さんがチョイスしたのがこの曲。

◆ダイアー・ストレイツは「全米トップ40」曲しか押さえてなかったので、1983年のこのスタジオ12インチEP「エクステンダンス・プレイ（ExtendedancEPlay」も知りませんでした。「Love over Gold」(1982)と2枚組ライブ盤の「Alchemy」（1984）の間。
　Wikipedia情報によると、レコードには海外版に3曲、アメリカ版に4曲が収録（米版には「Badges, Posters, Stickers, T-Shirts」が収録…「Love over Gold」セッションからのアウトテイク）とのこと。

◆“Pool”っていうと、英語では水泳のプール以外にも、ビリヤードの“Pool”を連想しましたが、ビリヤードの“Pool”というのは米国のようですね。ビデオを観ても、こっちは間違いなく「水」の方！ですね。

この曲は米国ではシングルにならず、英国、ニュージーランドなどでヒットしたようですね。もともと彼らはイギリスのロックグループ。この曲は歌詞でも「ユーロビートに合わせて…」なんて出てくるので、へんに世界的な音楽市場を意識せず、楽しんで作った曲なのかな、と思いました。
