この曲は1968年にはもう書かれていた、と言います。ジャクソンのデビューアルバムのなかでも最も早くにできていた曲らしいですね。
“アイ・アム・ア・チャイルド”...と歌うジャクソンは1968年にちょうど20歳でした。もちろん小学生なんて子どもではないけれど、これから生きていくにあたっての気概が溢れており、なかなか好きな曲です。
水を探して
人生を探して...という歌詞。このアルバムに収録された“Rock me on the water”もそうですが、“水（Water）”にも何かしらの生きる意味や活力のようなものを感じていたのかな、なんて思ったりします。
