◆これは後から知ったのですが、作者はダイアン・ウォーレン。

　ダイアンと言えば、このあと1980年代後半から1990年代にかけて沢山の大ヒットを飛ばすソングライターです。この曲のSongfactsの情報によると、ダイアンにとって、リズムのある曲を書いたのはこの曲がほぼ最初らしく、映画で使える曲がないかと注文を受けた際に書いたいくつかの作品のうちの一曲であるとのこと。


　この映画はモータウンが製作した映画「The Last Dragon」（1984年 日本未公開）で、"Rhythm Of The Night"はその映画で使われました。





　デバージを売り出すのにモータウンはプロデューサーにはやり手のリチャード・ペリーを起用しました。映画の宣伝やサウンドトラック盤の発売などと合わせて、この曲の大ヒットとグループの名声につながりました。そうですね。
　兄弟グループとしてデバージは"ジャクソン５"とも比較され、兄弟で一番人気を博したエル・デバージはマイケル・ジャクソンとも比べられたりしました。
　（エル・デバージの本名はEldra Patrick DeBarge、10人兄弟の6番目です）

◆でもこの曲のWikipedia情報では次のようにあります。

・この"リズム・オブ・ザ・ナイト"が大ヒットしたおかげでバニーとエルはソロデビューを果たし、デバージから脱退した。続いてチコもソロアルバムデビューをする。モータウンが彼らをソロデビューさせたのは、他のメンバーの薬物依存により共倒れになることを危惧したという背景もある。こうして人気メンバーの脱退によりこのままデバージを継続するのは商業的に難しいとの理由で、デバージはモータウンのレーベルから消えた。残った3人は長男ボビーと協力して「Bad Boys」をリリースしたが失敗に終わった。
・1988年にボビーとチコが麻薬の密売容疑で逮捕され、後に有罪判決を受ける。さらに長女バニーも薬物依存症であることを明かし、エルは女性ファンから性的暴行で訴えられるなどのトラブルが続き、1989年にデバージは解散した。
